First day of church, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square

Last Sunday was our first Sunday in our new wards.  There are seven of us in my ward and it takes us about an hour to get down there.  The first week, there were a lot of tube closures and we didn't know exactly how to get there, so we ended up leaving at around 8:30 for our ward at 10:30.  Turns out, it doesn't take nearly two hours to get there, so we were there an hour early for church.  Luckily, we had to meet with the bishop to get our callings!  I was called to the Primary - to teach and to play the piano!  Cool fact - my bishop is the one featured in this Mormon Message: http://www.lds.org/media-library/video/mormon-messages?lang=eng&id=2011-11-018-a-book-of-mormon-story#2011-11-018-a-book-of-mormon-story  It's in our chapel too!

That first week I ended up playing the organ for Sacrament Meeting.  I was a little rusty, but I loved getting back into it!  We then went to Primary and sat in with the older class (since it's small, they just split into two classes - the older class and the younger class).  The class was all boys ages 8 to 11 and they were rowdy!  We were assigned to teach the younger class though and I'm so excited to teach the little girls!

On Monday, we had class in the morning and then we had the afternoon and evening all to ourselves!  I set out with Jaden, Katherine, and Amanda and we first went to Buckingham Palace!  I loved seeing the place I had seen in the Royal Wedding last year.

Then we went over to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery.  Funny story - you can climb on the lions in Trafalgar Square so we wanted to do it!  Well, there's not really any steps up to the lions, so I ended up hoisting Jaden and Katherine up and then they helped me up and it was quite the ordeal.  haha I think I ended up rolling up there?  Not to mention all of the other tourists waiting for their turn that were watching us!  We couldn't stop laughing about it.

Next, we headed into the National Gallery which is right on Trafalgar Square.  There were SO many paintings!  My favorite was seeing Van Gogh's Sunflowers up close.  I love seeing these masterpieces so close!

We finished the day off with doing a walk for our Walks class and getting gelato at a place Scoops.  It was the best cookies and cream I've ever had!
